Awesome pancakes! Friendly people. Glad we stopped. Restaurant weary business travelers, this place is like having breakfast at moms.

One of only two (possibly three) restaurants in a very tiny town, but a good one! Fiance and I came here for lunch just as they were switching shifts. The decor is a cross of country meets cafeteria. Sunny was our waitress and she was as nice as can be. Very eager to steer us in the right food direction! We got the BLT with a side of homemade coleslaw and a cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. My fiance loves burgers and he was very impressed with the freshness of the burger as well as the bun! Based on our lunch, I would imagine their breakfast is equally as good and I wish we had arrived just a tad earlier so we could have indulged in that meal (as well as the musicians that play every Saturday morning). After we finished eating, the cook came out to talk with us about the area. Very nice guy and a good cook too! If you're ever passing through this area (we stopped for the Tippecanoe Battlegrounds) keep going a bit further down the road and you'll hit this place!

No frills, small town diner with decent food. Great prices, great service. Fine choice if you're in the area.

This is the only restaurant in the tiny downtown Main Street in Battle Ground, IN, and there were a dozen locals having brunch inside when we entered. The prices are insanely cheap. My SO's hamburger was less than $3.00 and my 2 eggs, 3 bacon slices and hash browns were $5.00. I got a blueberry pancake larger than my head for $2.30. The burgers are sold a la carte without a side of fries, onion rings, etc. so you can decide what you want and pay extra. The sides seem a bit higher than the main dish. These are like 1980's prices, but there is a reason why - other than a time travel machine when you walk through the front door. The food looks and tastes like what I could do myself at home, and I am by no means familiar with a kitchen. My pancake was slightly burnt on the bottom, but since it was so large, I just scraped the top half off and ate the top half only. Big plus - they use fresh blueberries and not blueberry jam from a can/jar. The hash browns were flatten into a big, misshapen pancake but thank god, weren't burnt like the bottom of the pancake. There is no effort at presentation whatsoever. The table and chairs are mismatched and other than tchotchkes on wall shelves along the wall, there's not much for decor. If you're not looking for ambiance and just want a plain meal, it's acceptable.

My grandson and I LOVE this place! Everyone is very friendly, the food is great and the prices are more than fair. Our plates are always too full and we wind up taking food home. Now they have opened an ice cream & pie shop next door so we are in complete heaven! She makes homemade pies like you *wish* your mother had made! Lots of flavors of ice cream and other baked goods too. This is as good as it gets!

This is a wonderful restaurant with a friendly family feel. Their breakfasts are an excellent value (and I imagine their other meals are, too -- I've only had breakfast here.) On Saturday mornings from about 7 am til 9 am or so a local area group called The Hazelnuts plays their music at the Eye Opener. You might hear numbers by Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, The Carter Family, Hazel and Alice, or any of a number of others. I like Saturday mornings -- breakfast and music. What an excellent combination!
